Deputy  Greenkeeper of the Palmerston Golf Academy

Job Purpose:

To manage the day-to-day running of the Golf Academy practice facility with the aim to make it playable for as many of the 365 days of the year as possible, ensuring the golf practice facilities are maintained to the highest of standards for our members and their guests. The successful candidate will be working as part of a world class team in the greenkeeping industry

Role Summary:

To maintain the greens, tees and approaches (divoting) and fairways.

To carryout grass cutting maintenance to all areas within the practice area.

Carry out fertiliser, pesticide, and other product applications in line with Health & Safety policies and industry best practice.

To maintain the irrigation system.

To set-up the area for corporate events.

To arrange schedule to ensure range collectors carry out regular ball collections.

Communicate with members, visitors, and other staff members in a positive, friendly, and courteous manner at all times.

To assist the golf course manager in the implementation of all company procedures and training and developing of staff.

To assist the golf course manager in maintaining departmental budget, purchasing and stock control.

On completion of Academy duties, to assist the golf course manager with maintenance of both golf courses.

 

Candidate Profile:

Qualified to NVQ3 or above.

PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates.

Minimum of 5 + years progressive golf course experience.

Excellent mentoring and leadership skills.

Knowledge, understanding and practical application of COSHH and Health & Safety at work regulations.

Must possess a solid mechanical knowledge.

A positive ‘can do’ attitude is essential.

Punctual (daily starts from 6am, which can be earlier in summer months).

Flexible – to work weekends as required.

Ability to work in a pressurised environment and able to work to deadlines.
