The Melbourne Club introduces new Clubhouse Gallery with Courtyard Arts
Enjoy local art in The Melbourne Club with the Spring Exhibition from Courtyard Arts.
The Courtyard Arts team – including Centre Director Kate Davies and Gallery Manager Peer Towers – enjoyed a reception earlier this month at Brocket Hall to mark the partnership that sees Courtyard Arts bringing a curated collection of works from select artists from the region to the walls of The Melbourne Club at Brocket Hall.
Paintings, prints and mixed media works from over 40 artists are now on display through the venue and are available for purchase, with many of the participating artists in attendance at the launch. Peer Towers thanked the Brocket Hall team for the opportunity to “take art out of the gallery” into new spaces and contexts, and to introduce the talent to be found in the region to new audiences.
A self-funded charity, Courtyard Arts’ mission is simple: to provide a launch pad for all members of the community to achieve their artistic potential.
Courtyard Arts is a community arts centre in Hertford, offering creative classes for all ages and abilities alongside a vibrant programme of exhibitions from emerging and established artists. The centre houses a gallery, artists’ studios and a gift shop showcasing work by local makers. The team also curates collections and exhibitions with partner venues, including the gallery at Hertford Theatre.
Courtyard Arts activities reach out into the community to deliver bespoke workshops for school children, young and older carers, and adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.
Courtyard Arts was founded in 1996 in a disused stable block, by a group of enthusiastic local artists who wanted everyone in the community to have access to art in a friendly environment, whatever their ability.
Paintings in the Clubhouse that take your fancy are available for purchase from Peer Towers, who is Gallery Manager at the Courtyard Art Centre (contact on email@example.com – 01992 509 596).
